The San Lorenzo Valley Amateur Radio Club will be sponsoring another
free
Technician License Class for perspective ham radio operators. After
taking this class, you will be prepared to pass a written exam in order
to become a licensed Amateur operator by the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC). This is an introductory class and requires no
previous radio experience or knowledge.
The classes are generously being conducted by Ray Wentz,
W6LPW. Location of these classes have been at the parish hall of
St.
Andrew's Episcopal Church at the corner of Glen Arbor Road and
Riverside Avenue in Ben Lomond, just one block from the traffic light
on Highway 9. The classes do not include learning Morse
code, nor is it any longer a requirement to get an Amateur license.
However, might offer a Morse code class at some point in the future if
there is enough interest.
There is no charge for this class, it is being offered as a public
service by the San Lorenzo Valley Amateur Radio Club and St. Andrew's
church. The only cost is $15 for the required textbook (the ARRL book
"Now You're Talking!"). As an ARRL-registered instructor, Ray can get a
25% discount on the books. Students can obtain the textbook from him at
the first class session.
The class size will be limited to about 12 students so he can give
each
student individual help. Please contact him directly for more
information and schedule times if you
are interested.
Ray can be reached by e-mail at Ray Wentz, W6LPW.
