SLVARC Field Day 2011

“CQ Field Day this is K6MMM”

The San Lorenzo Valley Amateur Radio club in conjunction with the Santa Cruz County Amateur Radio Club held the 2011 ARRL field day at the scenic CAL FIRE training facility located on Empire Grade Road. The SLVARC would like to thank CAL FIRE for their continuing support for this crucial emergency communications training event.

Amateur Radio operators, young and old, came from as far as Humboldt county to attend the event. The San Lorenzo Valley consists of the mountain communities of Boulder Creek, Brookdale, Ben Lomand and Felton.

This year was led by Rich Seifert, KE1B, along with the station captains: Tom W6TJK & Anna W6NN (co-captains CW), Robert KB6QXM (SSB), Jason KE6IEL (VHF/UHF), Greg N6CK (Digital), John KJ6ZL (Satellite), and Reed N1WC (GOTA).

We had 69 participants and an overall score of 4392.

Everyone had a great time. We had many highlights including a Satellite voice and CW contact to Hawaii.

We have posted pictures of our field day on our Flickr group site: http://www.flickr.com/groups/slvarc.

Here is a You Tube video of the satellite exchange to Hawaii—from the island’s POV!

See you next year!
